Quick Tips for the Registry Exam

Straight to the point. No filler.

1

Study by category, not by chapter

The ARRT exam is organized by content category. Study MRI Safety as a block, then Parameters, then Anatomy. Don't jump around.

2

Do at least one full mock exam

200 questions in 3.5 hours is exhausting. Practice the full length before exam day so you know what to expect mentally.

3

Don't memorize, understand

If you understand why increasing TR raises SNR, you can answer any TR question. Logic beats memorization every time.

4

Flag and move on

If you don't know an answer immediately, flag it and keep going. Don't waste five minutes on one question.

5

MRI safety is not just common sense

The registry tests specific ACR guidelines, zone definitions, and SAR limits. Study the actual guidelines, not just what feels obvious.

6

Know your gadolinium basics

Gadolinium, NSF, and contrast reactions are consistently tested. Know the eGFR cutoff and how to respond to a reaction.

7

Read every answer choice

The ARRT loves answers that are partially correct. Always read all four choices before selecting.

8

Track your weak areas

If you score below 70% in a category consistently, that is where your study time should go. Focus on weak spots.
